A moment of unity, Pope Leo XIV and King Charles III come together in prayer

VATICAN CITY, 23 October 2025 — Despite divisions within many communities and growing conflicts around the world, hope for unity and cooperation continues to shine. Today, a historic meeting took place in the Vatican between Pope Leo XIV and King Charles III, joined by Queen Camilla and the Anglican Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell. The gathering aimed not only to discuss the challenges facing the world but also to offer prayers together as leaders of two Christian traditions, a powerful step towards unity and shared understanding.

King Charles and Queen Camilla held a private meeting with Pope Leo and senior Vatican officials to talk about protecting our common home and helping poor communities in need. The discussions focused on ways to work together in friendship and understanding between different Christian traditions, as part of a continuing effort to care for people and the environment we all depend on.
