The Catholic Charity Foundation, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) International, has launched its 2025 Lenten Campaign dubbed “Martyrs of our time: Witnesses of Hope” to journey with the persecuted Church, including countries in Africa where followers of Jesus Christ suffer because of their faith.
In Africa in particular, ACN seeks solidarity with victims of jihadist groups in the Sahel region, who are seeking to impose a radical version of Islam on Christians in the region.
The launch of “Martyrs of our time: Witnesses of Hope” has been inspired by Pope Francis’ invitation to celebrate the Catholic Church’s 2025 Jubilee Year, ACN says in the Wednesday, March 5 ACN report, referring to the Holy Father’s initiative, which he officially launched on the Eve of 2024 Christmas under the theme, “Pilgrims of Hope”.
