IMMENSE TRAGEDY IN NKAMBE – N.W.CAMEROON
Our hearts are with the people of Nkambe, Donga-Mantung division.
Today the 11th of February is known as Youth Day for many in Cameroon, is a black Sunday for the people of Nkambe with many feared dead and others badly injured (mostly students) when an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) exploded where students from various schools within Nkambe had gathered to celebrate the youth day.
The blast occurred in Nkambe, a town in the region, as children were taking part in activities to mark National Youth Day, which has been celebrated in the country on Feb. 11 since 1966.
The IED is believed to have been planted in the area by the Ambazonian fighters who are fighting for a separate state and had declared a three-day lockdown to prevent any celebration from happening in the region. They consider this day as a colonialist day and the day the southern Cameroon was duped into a union which has caused them misery and pain over the past 50 plus years.

Many government authorities continue to proclaim a return to “normalcy” despite the daily violence and killings.
Can there be normalcy without dialogue, reconciliation and peace? It seems the world has completely forgotten about the people of southern Cameroon. When are we going to have peace? Or are we all going to rest in peace?
