Words spoken by Jesus, as he hung on the cross and which are written on the sanctuary wall next to the crucifix in every chapel of the Missionaries of Charity of Saint Mother Teresa.
This simple phrase reminds us that the Lord thirsts for peace and reconciliation in our war-torn world. He thirsts for compassion and mercy to be given to those on the fringes of society and our Church. He thirsts for the poor and destitute to experience acts of generosity and kindness. He thirsts for justice and integrity for those who are abused, abandoned, and mistreated. He thirsts for equality and respect for those seeking justice; the list is endless.
As we follow Christ in His journey to Calvary and commemorate His Passion and Death, may His words challenge us to respond to His thirst and, like Mother Teresa, ‘do something beautiful for God’.
