Kitale Community Advancement Programme (KAP) is a community education and counselling programme based in Kitale, addressing abuse/addiction, HIV/AIDS and violence and trauma. Being a medium-size national Non-Governmental Organisation KAP depends on local and international contributions.
Due to the severely dwindling availability of international donors, the donations from individual well-wishers, organisations and/or companies have become critical. We therefore continuously raise funds as member of the GlobalGiving platform.
KAP’s total yearly budget is minimal KSh 12 million, of which for the year 2021-2022 half has yet to be found.
Challenges KAP’s Youths project addresses
MANY YOUTHS IN TRANS NZOIA COUNTY LACK HOPE AND FIND IT HARD TO CHOOSE HEALTHY BEHAVIOURS, resulting in depression, suicides, school fires & participation in (political) violence, serious sexuality problems, much alcohol & substance abuse and school drop-out, etc.
Solution KAP offers
We provide community-based training of Youths Community Resource Persons, professional counselling and (psycho-) education services. Youths are helped in building self-awareness and identity, to work through their traumatic experiences whilst learning about relationships with peers, parents and society, sexual health, abuse/addiction, trauma and non-violent problem solving skills. Consequently they also learn to share their new knowledge and skills with their friends and neighbours.
We therefore cordially invite you to join us in helping our Trans Nzoia youths, financially or in-kind.
