This programme aims at offering an education to the children of Lurgi parish in India
Lurgi is a small village located 68 Kilometres from Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh State, India. Though it is in the middle of the jungle, it is rich in its natural resources. The majority of the population are poor and illiterate. They are from the tribal groups of Koraku and Oram who are mostly neglected by the government.
The local community recognised the real need for good education for their children in order to create a better future for the coming generations.
In 2017 the Mill Hill Missionaries opened a new school with a few classrooms and minimal facilities. At present, 110 pupils are being educated in this school from Nursery to Class V, with 7 teaching and 2 non-teaching staff.
