This reflection, written by Nuwamanya Fabius, a student at Jinja Formation in Uganda, explores the struggles and uncertainties of life. It highlights how we sometimes feel lost when things we love start to slip away, making life seem confusing and unfair. Whether in health, academics, or love, challenges can make us question our purpose. However, Fabius reminds us that even in our darkest moments, we should not give up. Instead, we should learn from our experiences, trust in God, and find strength in faith, knowing that He listens to our prayers and guides us through life’s ups and downs.
Life can be a real drama: Finding hope in the midst of Despair
There are times when we get on our knees, asking God to show us where our life is heading. The next thing we realize is that everything we love and cherish is disappearing one by one, and we feel left alone. That’s how life can sometimes become ironically dissatisfying. We never truly know where we are going until we start losing it all. At times, we find ourselves mesmerized by fortunate events, but before we know it, everything becomes absurd.
When it comes to health, we often believe our routines are healthy and beneficial, yet we may be diagnosed with cancer during a visit to the doctor. Back in school, our lecturers provide us with everything we need, but our grades remain low, even worse than before. On the subject of love, men often fail to recognize who truly loves them. They become so confused that they struggle to make decisions or determine who is right for them, to the point where they feel lost and unsure about what to do with their lives.
At this point, we may find life and everything in it to be worthless, and life can feel like a roller coaster. We might feel as though we can’t realize our purpose in this bittersweet existence after all our struggles. As a result, we might feel done trying, but it’s important to remember that some things are simply meant to happen and be as they are. We just have to accept them, but we should not allow them to destroy us or diminish our spirit.
We need to learn from these experiences, as they will help us build ourselves into better people. Even when all hope seems lost, we should look for that one reason among a thousand not to give up, or we can fall to our knees and call out for help from our Father in Heaven. We don’t need to shout or cry; He listens to even a silent heart prayer.
As long as it comes from deep down within and we truly believe He will answer, all things are possible with Him. Nobody ever claimed that life was a fairy tale. It has its ups and downs, but we should never let them crash our souls.
