Ben Snelder, born May 8, 1935, in Oosterbeek, Netherlands, devoted his life to service and missionary work. After formation in Tilburg, he made his Perpetual Oath in 1960 and began his lifelong mission at Herbert House, Liverpool. Despite health challenges, he actively enriched the lives of residents and staff, contributing to the community’s warmth.
Ben pursued several renewal courses in Jerusalem, Dublin, and Darlington. Retiring at Herbert House in 2016, he marked 60 years of service by 2020, a record-breaking tenure. Known for his photography, gardening, and joy, Ben maintained ties to his Dutch roots through Dutch radio station. He passed away peacefully on November 23, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication.
