The Mill Hill Missionaries in Uganda gathered joyfully at the Formation House in Jinja to celebrate the feast of St. Joseph, Husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our patron and model of faithful service to God. This special occasion was made even more meaningful as we witnessed the perpetual oath of our brother Isaias Estimo, who made his final commitment as a full member of the Mill Hill Society. At the same time, Rey Conde renewed his missionary oath, reaffirming his dedication to the mission, both are from the Philippines.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by our Regional Superior, Fr. Hillary Awiti, MHM. Reflecting on the life of St. Joseph, Fr. Hillary emphasized the virtues of humility, silent service, and unwavering trust in God’s providence. He reminded us that St. Joseph’s quiet yet powerful role in salvation history is a model for all missionaries—called not to seek recognition but to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to God’s mission.
Fr. Hillary also took the opportunity to encourage all Mill Hill Missionaries, especially those of us serving here in Uganda, to remain steadfast in our vocation. He acknowledged the sacrifices and commitment of many members, whose missionary spirit continues to bear fruit in our different communities we serve.
The celebration was graced by the presence of many Mill Hillers and friends of Mill Hill, who joined in thanksgiving for the gift of vocation and mission. After the Mass, the joyful atmosphere continued with a simple yet meaningful meal, shared in fraternity.
As we continue our journey, we entrust ourselves to the intercession of St. Joseph, our patron and protector. May his example of faith, dedication, and silent service inspire us all to live out our missionary commitment with renewed zeal.
