Pope Leo XIV told those present at St Peter’s Basilica on Sunday that the Church must keep its doors open and help people find hope, as he preached during a Mass that included priestly ordinations. In a homily for the Fourth Sunday of Easter, also Good Shepherd Sunday, he urged new priests to build communities where people can meet and make peace, and warned against fear and spiritual “robbers” that divide and harm. He said priests should not hide behind their role but take confidence from Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, and serve as “a channel, not a filter”, welcoming those who feel distant from the Church and guiding them towards faith. It is with great joy that we share with you the ordination to the Priesthood of Isaias Estimo, MHM, which took place yesterday, 30 April 2026, at St John the Baptist Parish in Igbaras, Iloilo, Philippines. The sacrament was conferred by Most Rev. Midyphil Billones, Archbishop of Jaro, who in his homily reminded Fr Isaias of the dangers in ministry of wanting to be the boss or always first, and said these can be overcome through true servanthood and humility. Fr. Michael Corcoran, MHM, the General Superior of Mill Hill, was also present on the occasion.
As we keep Fr Isaias in our prayers, we give thanks to God for His mercy and love, the very foundation of priesthood. Following his ordination, Fr Isaias will begin his first mission appointment in Kenya, where he will serve the Maasai community at St Francis Xavier Parish, Oloolaimutia Mission in Narok.
The Mill Hill Missionaries served the area where Isaias comes from between 1910 and 1962. Today, 64 years later, Igbaras has its own Mill Hill Missionary ready to be sent to the ends of the world.
