From Seed to Sapling: Green Mission
In the grand scheme of things, the size of something doesn’t matter. What really counts are the small beginnings that pave the way for greatness. This sentiment rings true in my story of journey from collecting seeds in ordinary plastic bags to distributing 19,000 fruit tree seedlings across Uganda is nothing short of inspiring.
Gratitude is owed to Fr. Adolf for his unwavering support and encouragement along the way. What started as a lighthearted endeavour has blossomed into a powerful initiative for environmental care and stewardship.
My emphasis on caring for the environment isn’t a solo act—it’s a choice we all make. Despite my busy schedule, I prioritize touching souls daily, a lesson learned from my time back in Kenya during my Missionary Experience Program (MEP) under the guidance of Fr. Adolf Pöll.
Pope Francis’s call to environmental action resonates deeply with me, who believe that everyone, everywhere, can play a part in protecting our planet.
Yesterday, I joined forces with the Young Students Catholic YSC of Jinja, distributing 700 seedlings after a Mass we had at Lakeview SS. Though lighthearted in nature, my gesture carries a profound message of hope for the schools and communities.
I see it as our collective responsibility to care for our common home. When we approach environmental stewardship with love, we not only bring peace of mind but also joy and happiness to ourselves and others.
Finally, the care of the environment mission reminds us that even the smallest actions can make a big difference in safeguarding our planet. Let’s heed Pope Francis’s invitation and join hands in nurturing a greener, healthier future for all.
