Kembong, Cameroon: Young Mill Hill Missionary Injured in Shooting Incident

Today, Monday 26 September, at about 11.00 am 6 gunmen on motorbikes (suspected to be Amba boys – Anglophone Resistance) came into our parish compound at Kembong.

Their first question was: where are the teachers? So when the teachers came out they were all asked to sit down.

Fr. Elvis Mbangsi MHM was in the parish house. Upon arriving at the scene, he was ordered to sit down. But before he could sit down, he was shot in the leg. Then the teachers were also all shot in their legs.

Some were shot once, others twice, and Fr. Elvis was shot in both legs and his left hand.

He and the others were rushed to st John  Hospital Mamfe. X-ray results revealed a serious fracture in his left hand.

All were subsequently transferred to Bamenda General Hospital for more specialist treatment.  They are all stable and out of danger.
