The Season of Creation, from September 1st to October 4th, invites us to marvel at the beauty of God’s creation, whether through the awe-inspiring view of Earth from space or the biblical story of the Garden of Eden. Both science and scripture remind us that all life on Earth is interconnected, thriving and suffering together.
However, our planet is in crisis. Climate change, fuelled by greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel use, is causing severe storms, floods, wildfires, and droughts, affecting millions of lives. The environmental damage is compounded by pollution and the rapid extinction of species due to habitat loss. Pope Francis has urged world leaders to choose life and work toward a sustainable future, reminding us all of our responsibility to safeguard the planet for future generations. Despite the challenges, efforts big and small—such as tree planting initiatives—offer hope and inspire us to take further action to protect our shared home.
