Mill Hill Procure, Rome: Visit Cardinal Peter Turkson

On the feast of the Annunciation, H.E. Cardinal Peter Turkson, Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, visited the Procure in Rome.  In 2019 he blessed the chapel and the new mosaic with the tabernacle of St. Joseph in the presence of eight Ambassadors to the Holy See. Through Fr. Michael Quaicoe the Cardinal has shown interest in the Procure of Mill Hill in Rome. Thus the feast of the Annunciation was an opportune moment to invite him to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his episcopal ordination.

The Cardinal was accompanied by three priests and three nuns, close collaborators with him at the Pontifical Academies. He celebrated the Eucharist in our chapel during which he recalled the exhortation of Scripture that  “every knee shall bow” when through our priestly ministry bread and wine are transformed into the body and blood of Jesus.

Since the weather was quite mild, Mass was followed by fellowship with an aperitif outside and a sit-down dinner in the house. We had a good occasion to hear the Cardinal explain his work at the Pontifical Academies which involves much travel as he is responsible to coordinate meetings and dialogue among various academies of science and social sciences worldwide.

We concluded with a prayer for his work and received his episcopal blessing.
