New Formation Year Opens in Luanda, Kenya

14 September 2026 – The new formation year in Luanda, Kenya, has opened with eight new students from Kenya and Uganda beginning their Basic Formation Year with the Mill Hill Missionaries.

This one-year programme gives candidates time to grow in faith, self-awareness and their commitment to Jesus Christ, the Church and mission. Through prayer, community life, pastoral training, personal guidance and reflection on their life stories, the candidates are invited to discern their vocation to missionary service.

At the end of the programme, the formation team will assess their progress and consider whether they are ready to continue to the first cycle of formation.

With great joy, we also share the news of five new aspirants who have joined the formation programme of the Franciscan Missionaries of St Joseph (FMSJ). The FMSJ and Mill Hill Missionaries work closely together in the formation of young men and women in Luanda.

We wish the new candidates a fruitful time of discernment and assure them of our prayers as they continue their journey towards missionary life.
