New Mission Base in Nairobi

A New Chapter: Relocation to the Karen Land Regional Units

The Mill Hill Missionaries in the East Africa Region have entered a new and significant phase in their journey with the successful relocation to our new Regional Units on Silanga Road, Karen, Nairobi. This transition marks the culmination of a process that began following the sale and official handover of our former property along Ngong Road on 31st January 2025.

For the past year, we have been residing in a seven-bedroom rented house along Bogani Road, Karen. This temporary arrangement provided a valuable space for continuity in administration and service to mission as construction progressed on our newly acquired property.

We are now pleased to announce that on the evening of 31st March 2026, following the completion of two Regional Units, we officially took occupancy of the new premises. These units are thoughtfully designed to support both mission and administration. They include 6-bedroom administration section housing the Regional Finance Office and archives, a 12-bedroom unit dedicated to visitors, and the Support Staff Quarters. Together, these facilities will enhance the coordination and effectiveness of the missionary work entrusted to the Mill Hill Missionaries in the East Africa Region.

This milestone would not have been possible without the generous support of the General Superior, Very Rev. Michael Corcoran and his Council. We express our profound gratitude for their financial assistance in the acquisition of the land, initially offered as a loan with interest. Their subsequent decision to waive the loan interest and to contribute 25% of the loan towards a property value, stands as a remarkable gesture of solidarity and commitment to the mission.

We also extend sincere appreciation to the Supervision Committee of the Regional Council, whose dedication and oversight ensured the steady progress of the project. The committee comprised Rev. Francis Makuba, Rev. Norbert Odunga, Rev. Vitor Nayak, and Rev. Hillary Awiti.

Our heartfelt thanks go as well to all Mill Hill Missionaries and Friends who, through their prayers, encouragement, and moral support, have accompanied us on this journey. Your solidarity has been a source of strength and inspiration.

As we celebrate this achievement, we also look ahead with hope. The construction of the Formation House—comprising four units and occupying more than one-third of the Karen property—is currently ongoing. We anticipate its completion by February 2027, further strengthening our commitment to formation and mission in the region and beyond.

Corridors

This relocation is not simply a change of residence; it is a renewed commitment to our missionary calling, AMARE et SERVIRE. From this new place, we continue to serve the Mission of the Church with dedication, trusting in God’s providence as we move forward together.
