Pune, India: Ordination to the Diaconate

The Ordination to Diaconate of Satyendra Kumar MHM took place at the Divine Mercy Parish Church, Wadagaonsheri, Pune.

Rt. Bishop Thomas Dabre, the Bishop of the Diocese of Poona spoke of the importance of service in a world that is plagued by selfishness and pleasures. The very fact that a young man comes forward to say yes to be a servant of the Kingdom of God is itself a miracle and a sign that the grace of God is at work in the Church and in the lives of People.

Hence, he reminded Satyendra that he is called to be at the service of God’s people and not to serve himself. Although Jesus knew that Judas Iscariot would betray him, but he went on ahead to lay down his life for the sake of the salvation of humanity. Because Jesus knew that he came to serve and not to be served. So, one can be truly happy because others are made happy by our service.

Above all, the Bp. Thomas Dabre reminded all present that all of us are called to be men and women of prayer above all else. The ceremony unfolded into a beautiful solemn ordination to Diaconate followed by felicitation of the guests, friends, and those who have made a wonderful contribution to make this event a memorable one for each and everyone.

It was then followed by a fellowship meal with all the invited friends, families, and members of other religious communities and campus superiors.
