We just parked our vehicle in front of their house (just where we are sitting). They had to go to the nearby village to fetch water for us to drink and make tea. Unfortunately, they were unable to find any milk in the neighbourhood, so they made us ‘green tea’. Afterwards, we celebrated the Eucharist in the shade next to the house. As a sign of their generosity and love, the family also prepared a sweet dish for us, which is customarily served to visitors in the area. Despite the poverty situation, there is joy in reaching out to the people. Many blessings in this Lenten season, and as we reflect more on almsgiving, prayer and fasting, I humbly request that we keep these families in our prayers.
