Taking Catholic Sisters in Kenya to the next level!

Catholic sisters in Kenya are taking their evangelization efforts to the next level by using the power of the media to spread their message far and wide.

Catholic sisters in Kenya have launched a new initiative, the Communication Network for Catholic Sisters (CNCS), under the Association of Sisterhoods of Kenya (AOSK). This network aims to boost evangelization through modern social communication, showing the sisters’ commitment to using media for social transformation. The launch event on June 14 followed a two-day workshop in Nairobi, where 13 professional sisters were trained in communication skills essential for the digital age.

The workshop covered social media security, protection, and cyberbullying, led by expert Kennedy Kachwanya. He stressed the inevitability of encountering cyberbullying and advised the sisters to respond with grace and an evangelistic spirit. Another key session was on Artificial Intelligence (AI), led by Br. Elias Mokua SJ, who highlighted AI’s potential in communication, encouraging the sisters to use it for more creative and effective evangelism.

The launch was attended by representatives from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and key figures from the Catholic community. Sr. Jane Wakahiu, Associate Vice President of Program Operations and Head of the Catholic Sisters Initiative, expressed her excitement and gratitude for the collective effort that made the network a reality. She emphasized the importance of sharing stories of hope, love, and courage with tenderness and care.

Sr. Josephine Kangogo, Chairperson of AOSK, highlighted the critical role of communication in society and expressed confidence that CNCS will enable sisters to share their stories with precision and authenticity, strengthening their evangelistic efforts and advocacy for the voiceless.

The CNCS is funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, which supports Catholic sisters in their mission to alleviate human suffering. Sr. Michelle Njeri, Director of CNCS, stated that the network aims to enhance evangelization through media, fostering greater connection and collaboration among sisters from various congregations. She emphasized the network’s core values of prayer, integrity, accountability, respect, diversity, networking, and partnership.

The launch of CNCS marks a new era for Catholic sisters in Kenya. By embracing modern communication tools, the sisters are enhancing their evangelistic efforts and making a significant impact on society. Through their stories of hope, love, and courage, they are fostering a more compassionate and understanding world, poised to inspire change and promote social transformation in the digital age.
