We have received this inspiring message from one of our Mill Hill Missionaries working in India, Fr. Nikhil Kalagura, MHM:
Our humble Tuktuk stands out for its unique role in our pastoral work in this fast-growing modern world, filled with the latest and most advanced vehicles. What matters is not the vehicle but the mission it fulfils. Our pastoral journey is not measured by the means of transport we use but by the lives we have touched. The Tuktuk is often seen as a simple and cheap means of transport, but in our mission, it has taken a noble role in serving the pastoral needs of the people! It’s not just a Tuktuk! It’s a Tuktuk that carries God’s love, care, and hope to the last, the least, and to the lost!
When I drive a Tuktuk, people may see a Tuktuk driver. But I tell them, ‘Yes, I am a divine driver.’ They may ask for a ride, and I tell them the only ride I give is to the heavenly Father. They may think I am a Tuktuk driver and ask me for change, and I tell them to pay me in kindness. For in this Tuktuk, I am not just a driver, but a vessel of God’s love and hope, serving His people with devotion and reverence.
In this picture, we see our steadfast Tuktuk valiantly embracing a little “off-road adventure.” Despite its best efforts, it seems to have decided to take a spontaneous mud bath. Clearly, it wanted to be more grounded in its mission, but perhaps it took the idea a bit too literally! Fear not, for this resilient vehicle will soon be back on track, ready to carry God’s love and hope to the last, the least, and the lost – just as soon as we give it a helping hand (or a tow)!
