It is with deep sadness that we announce the official Funeral services for our priest, Rev. Father Luke Yugue, and his driver, Michael Gbeko. They went missing on April 27, 2024, while traveling from Nagero County to Tombura County. The funeral services will take place from Thursday, May 23 to Saturday, May 25, 2024, ending with a Holy Mass at St. Mary, Mother of God Catholic Parish.
The Bishop called for calm and discouraged any acts of revenge, urging everyone to adhere to the principles of the Gospel and let the law take its course. He reminded the faithful of Jesus’ response in John 18:10-11, when He stopped Peter from using violence. The Church, he emphasized, says no to revenge.
Since their disappearance, there have been many rumours and tensions, especially since they went missing in an area controlled by the SPLM-IO, led by Vice President Riek Machar. The Bishop’s message is a call for peace and faith during this difficult time.
