Luanda, Kenya – Corpus Christi Celebration: Christians of St. Joseph Parish, Luanda, in the Diocese of Kakamega, celebrated Corpus Christi as one body of Christ and shared one Bread. It is their faith in what Jesus declared that His flesh is true food and His blood is true drink, calling all people to receive Him in the Eucharist and have eternal life. After the Holy Mass, the faithful took part in a prayerful procession of the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of Luanda town, singing hymns, praying and witnessing to their faith. Many parishioners, families and children joined the procession as prayers and blessings were offered for the people, homes, businesses and all places along the route. The celebration highlighted the parish’s devotion to the Eucharist and the unity of the Catholic community in proclaiming Christ’s presence in the world and making the Eucharist the centre of Catholic life.
The Mill Hill Missionaries have been serving at St Joseph Parish, Luanda, since the parish was founded in 1996. For nearly 30 years, they have played a key role in pastoral work, evangelisation, and community development in the area.
Today, the parish reflects the international character of the Mill Hill Missionaries. Members from Cameroon, Uganda, and India are currently serving in Luanda, working together with the local Church to continue the mission of spreading the Gospel and supporting the faithful. The parish remains an important centre of missionary activity and formation in the region.
