Tuesday October 17th: Worldwide Day of Prayer for Peace in Holy Land

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, has called on behalf of the Church leaders of the Holy Land to observe a worldwide day of fasting and prayer for peace in the Holy Land on October 17. “We invite all parishes, religious communities and families to join us.” Various Episcopal Conferences have also supported the initiative.

“Once again we find ourselves in the midst of a political and military crisis. But in this moment of pain and consternation, we do not want to remain helpless. We cannot accept that death and destruction have the last word and we therefore want to make our voices heard. Our God is a God of peace.”

“We ask that everyone observe a day of fasting, abstinence and prayer on Tuesday, October 17, and that Eucharistic Adoration and Rosary for Peace be organised.”
