Yesterday, 21st May, we had a surprise visit from a couple from Aotearoa/New Zealand. Their names: Gerard and Maria Watson – de Thierry.
They came to visit the grave of Fr. Gerard Haring († 2003) in our cemetery.
The husband, a Maori, knew Fr. Haring well, grew up with him and was named after him when he was baptized by this Mill Hiller who lived among the Maoris.
I accompanied them to our cemetery where we sang and prayed at Fr. Gerard Haring’s tomb. Gerard Watson spontaneously broke out in a thunderous Maori tribute when approaching the site. An absolute first at our Mill Hill cemetery here!
