On the evening of April 15th, 2024, Mill Hill Missionaries in South Africa gathered at La Verna Retreat Centre with Fr. Philip Adede, the councillor for Africa, for their first-ever assembly in the region. Their spirits were high, and their souls elated as they marked 25 years of evangelization in this mission.
During the meeting, they had socials, sharing, and anticipation to a day of recollection the following day. The assembly was a significant moment for them, as they reflected on their footprints in South Africa and discussed the foundation of their work in the region.
On the second day of their assembly, they began with a day of recollection led by Fr. Philip Adede. He encouraged them to be compassionate towards each other and be available to one another in mission. This set the tone for their reflection, reminding them to be each other’s keeper and stay close to Christ in prayer. As men of prayer, their call is to love, serve, and foster brotherhood. The talk was much needed, and they appreciated the inspiring words. Following the recollection, they began with parish reports and shared their mission experiences. It was a time for the members from different dioceses and missions to deepen their understanding of each other. They were moved by the rich, amazing, and challenging experiences shared. They ended the day with a social gathering and free interaction with one another.
