Having Baptized and sent, in mission we encounter different people who accompany us and effectively participate in the spreading of the Good News of Christ. These are men and women, both young and old who give their lives at the service of the Gospel and yet most times many of them go unrecognized. Today I am pleased to recognize Mr. Beejal Heero on his Silver Jubilee as a catechist.
On 2nd of February 2026, St. John the Baptist Parish Tando Allahyar with great joy gathered together to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Master Beejal Heero. For the last 25 years, Beejal has served as a catechist in Nawabsha, Kotri and Tando Allahyar parishes in Hyderabad Diocese, Sindh, Pakistan. He is a former student and among the pioneer students of our Hostel, St. John the Baptist Boys’ Hostel. He was trained under the Mill Hill Missionaries who served at that time including Frs. Brendan Mulhall, John McAulay, Denis Hartnett and Jimmy Lindero. He is therefore an example of a product of the Mill Hill Missionaries who after being formed he now gives back to the community through loving service as a Catechist. In his speech Mr. Beejal was grateful for those who have journeyed with him in his work as a catechist and encouraged many young people to respond to the call to serve in the Lord’s vineyard. He is a witness to how faith is growing within our parish and Pakistan at large despite the challenges of extreme poverty, injustice, insecurity and harsh climatic conditions.
The Jubilee celebration awakens the joy within us that despite the pain and struggles we face, the services we render and our tireless work and dedication will eventually yield results at the right time. In all his efforts and loving service, we thank Master Beejal and pray that God may continue to strengthen him with good health that he may continue with service to the Kutchi Kholi people. When you have done all that you were commanded say, ‘we are unworthy servants; we have done what was our duty.’
